Why Fight Like a Pearl?

Fight Like a Pearl

Do you know how a pearl is formed? A pearl begins when a mollusk—such as a clam, mussel, or oyster—is introduced to an irritant like a grain of sand or a tiny parasite. As a natural defense, the mollusk coats the irritation with layers of nacre, slowly transforming pain into something breathtaking.

Pearls… pebbles born from imperfection. Society rightfully calls them beautiful—adorned, glimmering, radiant. Our child was the same. The brightest soul, leaving everyone changed by her light. She marked this world deeply, and the crater remains.

Was it random that her name had to be Pearl? We heard it once, and our eyes sparked. It was her. It was always her. When cancer tried to darken our fragile world, one phrase carried us through the storm: Fight Like a Pearl.

Much like the pearl itself, she endured what was meant to harm, transforming it into something full of grace and light. Though half her life was spent in that battle, she never stopped shining. Her laughter pierced through pain; her spirit gleamed through every shadow. She loved her short life fiercely, and her courage outshone everything thrown her way.

So we carry her spirit forward. We remind others what she taught us: beauty can rise from hardship, strength is born from love, and even in brokenness, light can still shine through.

You’ve got this. Kick cancer’s butt.
And always, always…
Fight Like a Pearl!
